Tips to help with mental-health

Part 1:

I am in no way shape or form a specialist, psychologist, mental-health doctor etc. If you have severe or chronic depression, anxiety etc. consult a specialist. But I do know the seriousness of mental-health and how most take it lightly. Some tips that I have used and currently using to work on my mental health are the following:

  1. Belief in God : I believe the number one solution to mental-health and having a healthy and sound mind is being aware that God is real, present and is the creator of heavens and earth. All power and might belong to him and him solely. Having this belief and certainty will carry you through a lot of problems in life. You become cognizant that God is really the only one who knows and understands you. So you must trust him. After all, he created you. It is only common sense to believe and have faith in your creator.
  2. Prayer: prayer works in ways that cannot be explained. Prayer is that connection with God, the communication and source you need to thrive and stay positive. With prayer you are able to release and be present. With prayer it increases hope and faith. Prayers keeps your mind and soul occupied against negative, self-destructive thoughts and thinking. Prayers give your protection. Prayer is so very important when it comes to mental-health.
  3. Work: There is a saying “ an idle mind is the devils playground.” You must stay busy, keep yourself active and work towards a goal. Especially if you are dealing with mental health issues. Sitting around and just thinking and staying in your mind is the absolute worse thing you can do. That gives a way for the devil to entertain you with doubts, confusion and keep you in past mistakes and conflicts. whether it is starting a business, school, career, helping in the community etc. always do something to keep you focused and in the moment. There is so much work to be done!
  4. Good company: you become like the people you hang around. It is important to be around people who care about your well being, and help you become a better person. You want the right energy and vibrations to rub off on you, not the opposite. The people you hang around are like a mirror/reflection of yourself. Your mindset is very sacred, as well as your mental well-being, Surrounding yourself with the right people is necessary for a good and healthy lifestyle.

Ramadan

so blessed to see another year in this beautiful month of Ramadan. This is the second Ramadan , most of us are witnessing in this pandemic. This Ramadan has made me even more grateful and appreciative to fast. to be able to fast and cleanse the heart, mind , body and soul in this month is definitely a blessing and mercy. I will take full advantage of this month as most everyone should. death is surrounding us daily, everyday at a rapid pace. be grateful and thankful to be a part of this holy month. This month I am solely focused on God, reading Quran , meditating as well eating foods not harmful for the body. I really cherish this time of year because it is a time to really change your life over 30-days. God says in the Quran : O ye who believe! Fasting is prescribed to you as it was prescribed to those before you, that ye may (learn) self-restraint,( Sura 2:183).

Fasting is what our souls need ; it is what our bodies have been craving for ! Fasting heals and restores ! enjoy this blessed month and Get close to God.

7 day juice fast

Day 1

so, today July 3, 2020 has official been the first day of a 7 day straight liquid fast. My purpose for this is to cleanse myself and give my digestive system a break. So far, it has not been that hard. I gotten a little light headed here and there, but once i drink some water i feel better. So in this 7 day period, of consuming only liquids, healthy drinks and smoothies i plan not only to cleanse my body, but also my mind.I want to go longer than 7 days, but you have to start somewhere, and this is how i choose to start.

Today I had a delicious green smoothie with kale,spinach, avocado and mango. The smoothie is really like a food replacement. I add Moringa powder, turmeric, black seed, flax seed and Maca root to my smoothie as well. Not only does it taste delicious but i am able to get all my minerals, vitamins and other essentials i meed to keep me healthy, physically and mentally.

Dragon fruit

The title speaks for itself .Dragon fruit is definitely bae. One of the prettiest and tastiest fruit i have come across. Coming from America these fruits are not found locally in most grocery markets like apples and bananas. In fact, I don’t think i would have ever come across this fruit if i did not start my Healthy eating life style change. My trips to the farmers market have been miraculous ! The farmers market is where i came across this fruit. There is a particularly big farmers market in my area that serves fruits, foods, grains, herbs etc from all different parts of the world. One day i Went to the market to do the usual grabs my apples, bananas, spelt pasta, wild rice, mangoes ,seeded grapes and of course other little things. But this fruit caught my eye. It was aesthetically pleasing to they eye, almost like it was not meant to be eaten. I’m not usually one to try new things but I had to give this a new try.

The first time I tasted this fruit it was like i Was floating on air. It was sweet and moist. It just like melted in my mouth. It has like a trillion seeds in it, which i love! I only eat fruits with seeds and i enjoy eating the seeds. This fruit taste better than any candy! it will have you hooked. The first dragon fruit i had was the yellow one. The yellow dragon fruit is the sweetest of all the dragon fruits and has fewer seeds than the pink one. Both are undoubtedly delicious.
