Uber eats has to be by far the most addictive thing I have come across. I just love the feeling of my food being brought to me and not having to interact or tell people in the restaurant want I want. I don’t have to deal with attitudes, unwanted looks etc. Uber eats is like a Gold mind for introverts. But it has become crippling and I am doing away with it for a while. Setting the goal for rest of 2023 no more uber eats. I am starting to not want to cook for myself anymore. Having food at the touch of a screen has become a dangerous thing for me.

What I love most about uber eats is the variety. There are hundreds of food locations to choose from on the app, that makes it even worse. The money I am wasting on Uber eats is enough in itself to leave it alone for a while. The fees, the mileage, tips etc. The price of food is like 2 times more what it would be if you went in the restaurant, That’s another big downside. another reason for me to go on a break from uber eats is me about to embark on a fast. I need to cleanse my system because uber eats is cleansing my pockets.

I will pray for the day I can blog about how I left uber eats alone for the year. So far the only addiction I have is uber eats. I am going on a journey it will be for the best. I need to start making my own home cooked meals. 21st century is really that guy, technology, all these apps that are taking over our natural lives. I am defeating it all. Time to give it a break. I know I can do this. Anyone out there struggling with uber eats or door dash addiction I am with you and we will get through this.

7 day juice fast

Day 1

so, today July 3, 2020 has official been the first day of a 7 day straight liquid fast. My purpose for this is to cleanse myself and give my digestive system a break. So far, it has not been that hard. I gotten a little light headed here and there, but once i drink some water i feel better. So in this 7 day period, of consuming only liquids, healthy drinks and smoothies i plan not only to cleanse my body, but also my mind.I want to go longer than 7 days, but you have to start somewhere, and this is how i choose to start.

Today I had a delicious green smoothie with kale,spinach, avocado and mango. The smoothie is really like a food replacement. I add Moringa powder, turmeric, black seed, flax seed and Maca root to my smoothie as well. Not only does it taste delicious but i am able to get all my minerals, vitamins and other essentials i meed to keep me healthy, physically and mentally.

Dragon fruit

The title speaks for itself .Dragon fruit is definitely bae. One of the prettiest and tastiest fruit i have come across. Coming from America these fruits are not found locally in most grocery markets like apples and bananas. In fact, I don’t think i would have ever come across this fruit if i did not start my Healthy eating life style change. My trips to the farmers market have been miraculous ! The farmers market is where i came across this fruit. There is a particularly big farmers market in my area that serves fruits, foods, grains, herbs etc from all different parts of the world. One day i Went to the market to do the usual grabs my apples, bananas, spelt pasta, wild rice, mangoes ,seeded grapes and of course other little things. But this fruit caught my eye. It was aesthetically pleasing to they eye, almost like it was not meant to be eaten. I’m not usually one to try new things but I had to give this a new try.

The first time I tasted this fruit it was like i Was floating on air. It was sweet and moist. It just like melted in my mouth. It has like a trillion seeds in it, which i love! I only eat fruits with seeds and i enjoy eating the seeds. This fruit taste better than any candy! it will have you hooked. The first dragon fruit i had was the yellow one. The yellow dragon fruit is the sweetest of all the dragon fruits and has fewer seeds than the pink one. Both are undoubtedly delicious.

staying healthy and happy

My journey to having a healthier lifestyle

There first key to happiness is believing and having a connection with the almighty. The next key to happiness is having good health. In order to have good health you have to eat right. Around the time of Ramadan ( April 26) something in me awakened, I wanted to change my lifestyle completely. I have been feeling completely elated since i changed the way i eat. From fried foods, fast food, snack and pizza i would constantly feel fatigued , lazy and even unmotivated at times. on top of all that i gained alot of weight.

My thoughts became scattered and anxiety heightened. With fasting 30 days in Ramadan i felt the clarity, not eating for the whole day gave me a new feeling. Like i was not being weighed down. My mind was able to focus. Food is medicine it can either help you or hurt you. Since April 2020, i have been on a lifestyle change it is almost July 2020! I have eliminated meats, sugar, dairy , processed foods and eating out completely. I would not say i am a vegan, or even a vegetarian but, i have been incorporating alot of Alkaline foods into my diet and consuming no other drinks besides water, herbal teas and tonics. I will have a piece of salmon or fish maybe 3 times out the month. I also only eat one meal a day. I have a fruit or vegetable smoothie in the morning for breakfast and eat one meal around mid afternoon to keep me for the day. what has helped me alot through this journey is prayer and you-tube. There is so many amazing recipes and tips on you-tube on healthy meals for plant- based, vegan and vegetarians. I use think eating healthy was boring and i don’t really like salads. You-tube has opened me to the world of fried oyster mushrooms which taste better than fried chicken, vegan pizza with homemade non-dairy almond cheese, plant-based burgers and so much more. Eating healthy is not so boring after all. InshAllah ( God-willing) i will be starting a juice cleanse starting July 1, 2020 until July 7 2020. This is going to really strengthen and cleanse my body. During this week I will only be consuming liquids and smoothies.
